Taking the first step
How Therapy Works
In the first few sessions of therapy, we’ll take time to get to know you and understand what brought you here. During the initial intake session, we’ll complete a diagnostic assessment to better understand your experiences and how they may be impacting your life. This is also when you’ll have space to share your story and what you hope to achieve through therapy. Together, we’ll set goals that feel meaningful and create a treatment plan tailored just for you. While therapy isn’t usually a quick fix, the pace and length of your journey will be guided by your unique needs and what feels right for you. Making progress often means exploring deeper feelings and uncovering what’s beneath the surface—but with patience and regular sessions, positive change can happen. Throughout the process, I’m here to support you every step of the way as we build trust and work toward growth in a way that honors your experience.

FAQ
Do you accept insurance?
I am an approved provider for Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP/Medicaid). I am currently out-of-network with most commercial insurance plans, but I’m working to join additional networks—updates will be posted here. Please contact your insurance company to see if out-of-network benefits may apply.
How long does therapy usually last?
Recent research shows that, on average, about 15 to 20 therapy sessions are needed for half of clients to experience significant improvement based on their own reports. However, every person’s journey is different, and the length of therapy depends on your unique goals and needs.
How often will we meet?
Most clients start by meeting once a week, which helps build momentum and create a consistent space for growth. Depending on your needs and progress, we can adjust the frequency to every other week or as needed.
What type of therapy do you use?
I use an integrative approach, tailoring therapy techniques to fit your unique needs and goals. This may include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, mindfulness strategies, and other evidence-based methods to support your healing and growth.
How much does therapy cost?
Individual Therapy: 53 minutes — $180
Couples & Family Therapy: 26–53 minutes — $190
Initial Intake: 26–53 minutes — $200
Payment is due at the time of the session. I accept cash, checks, credit cards, as well as HSA and FSA payments.
For MHCP/Medicaid Clients:
Please submit proof of your current Minnesota Health Care Programs (MHCP) coverage before your first session. Some MHCP programs may require a copay—please check your coverage and bring any required copay to your first session. Payment for sessions will otherwise be handled through MHCP according to your coverage.
Do you offer a sliding scale?
Yes, I offer a limited number of sliding scale appointments based on financial need. If you’re interested, please email me to inquire about availability and eligibility.
How do I know if therapy is working?
Therapy progress can look different for everyone, but generally, you’ll start to notice changes like improved mood, better coping skills, healthier relationships, or a greater sense of understanding yourself. We’ll regularly check in together to discuss your goals and how you’re feeling about your progress, making adjustments as needed to support your growth.
Do you offer telehealth/Online therapy?
Yes, I offer telehealth sessions to provide flexible and convenient therapy options. These sessions are secure and confidential, and can be accessed easily through the patient portal, allowing you to connect from the comfort of your home or another private space.
