  • Cycle of Avoidance Handout – The cycle of avoidance happens when anxiety or fear leads you to avoid certain situations. Avoiding them may bring short-term relief, but it often reinforces fear and makes anxiety stronger over time. Breaking the cycle usually involves gradually facing what you’ve been avoiding in a safe, structured way.
